Most people will experience one or several of the following symptoms, although it is possible to rupture the Achilles tendon without feeling any of them. Common symptoms include:
- A popping or snapping sound when the injury occurs
- An inability to stand on your toes on the injured leg
- An inability to bend your foot downward or "push off" the injured leg when you walk
- Pain, possibly severe, and swelling near your heel
There are other Achilles tendon injuries that can develop—including Achilles tendinitis and tendinosis—it is important to seek treatment no matter what type of injury you sustain. Contact Foot & Ankle Associates of Florida for additional information, or to request an appointment at any of our five offices (Orlando, Tavares, Lake Mary, Kissimmee, and Altamonte Springs), by calling 407-339-7759 or 352-589-9550 (if calling from Lake County).
