Why does my heel hurt in the morning?
Heel pain in the morning is likely an indication of plantar fasciitis. This is the most common cause of heel pain for adults. The primary symptom is sharp, intense pain that accompanies the first steps of the day.
Plantar fasciitis is a condition that develops when the connective tissue (the plantar fascia) running along the bottom of the foot becomes irritated and inflamed when faced with excessive pressure. This is considered to be an overuse injury, one caused by repeated stretching and tearing of the fascia.
