Walking is a great form of exercise, in fact it is one of the most popular ways to exercise.  No gym membership, great athletic skills, or special equipment is required.  Fundamental (or healthwalking) can be done just about anywhere or at any time.  If it is too hot, or you are faced with inclement weather, walk at your local mall - many malls even have walking clubs that you can join.  According to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, about 67 million men and women walk regularaly and their numbers are growing every year.  If you are free from serious health problems, start your walking program today.  However, be sure to consult your family physician if you have any health concerns.  If you are over age 60, have a disability or disease, or are taking medication, consult your physician before you begin a walking program.  A check up is also suggested for those under 60 who are excessively overweight, are smokers, have been physically innactive or those who easily fatigue. Tomorrow's blog wil present shoe tips for walkers.
